Meet Steve Long
Steve Long is a student entrepreneur and the founder of EconEd, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing economic and financial education and youth empowerment. With more than 24 chapters across the United States, Steve has raised over $5,000 and reached hundreds of students through free tutoring, school workshops, and competitions — all with the goal of closing the economic and financial literacy gap in K–12 education.
What was your first job?
My first and only job was as a youth soccer referee, where I officiated games every weekend. I am also an entrepreneur and run my own LLC, S & C Best Buy, which I have managed for the past four years.
Share a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know:
I can play six instruments: guitar, bass, piano, drums, clarinet, and saxophone.

The Power of Vulnerability by Brené Brown. It explores how embracing vulnerability can lead to deeper connections, resilience, and growth — a message that has changed how I spend time with both peers and family.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Do things you love and are passionate about — not just what’s normalized or what everyone else is doing. Be yourself.
