Meet the TEDxAmoskeagMillyard Organizer Team

  • David Hudson

    Co-lead | Speaker Coach | Host

Stories and ideas have always held a special place in my heart. There is power in every tale to open minds, spark passion, and change the world, which is why it has been an honor and a privilege to help our speakers tell their stories since 2013. I love working with our incredible #TEDxAM team and shepherding our speakers through the process of shaping their story for the stage. Unsurprisingly, I am also the sort of person who couldn’t possibly narrow my many favorites down to just one. It seems like every talk weaves its own kind of magic and changes how I think about the world.

I’ve been enthralled by TED since I viewed my first talk, and that feeling has only intensified in the years since. I jumped on the opportunity to join TEDxAmoskeagMillyard in 2013 and have engaged throughout the years in nearly every role, from lead organizer of TEDxAMWomen to gleefully hauling our signature red X throughout Manchester and beyond. As an organizer, I’ve been privy to incredible experiences, people, community, and yes, those captivating talks. One TED Talk remains central to me – I go back time and time again – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s “The danger of a single story.” Representation matters, now more than ever.

    Speaker Lead | Speaker Coach

As a speaker coach since 2022, I’m honored to help support our incredible speakers and the entire #TEDxAM team. While it feels impossible to choose my single favorite TED Talk, I will never forget my first: “My stroke of insight” by Jill Bolte Taylor. Beyond the brilliant title, it’s an exceptional story, told in a way that’s memorable, informative, funny and heartfelt. (Plus we get to see a real human brain on stage. How cool is that?)

I've always found TED Talks to be an incredible resource for positivity. It's a platform to share an idea that can change someone's perspective on the world. As a video professional and teacher, I believe stories can connect us regardless of the subject matter. It's hard to pick just one TED Talk, but if I did, Celeste Headlee's "How to have a good conversation" is timeless and effective. After all, what's better in life than a good conversation with another person?

    Communication Co-lead

I stumbled upon TEDx nearly 15 years ago after moving to New Hampshire from the Midwest. As a social media enthusiast watching that year's livestream from home, I live-tweeted insightful quotes from the speakers in real time. My online interactions unintentionally led me to connect with the event organizers, who invited me to volunteer. Gratefully, I found my place within a vibrant community of like-minded, curious, and creative individuals. TEDxAmoskeagMillyard has allowed us, as a team, to uplift voices and foster connections with some of the most interesting people I have ever met. After all these years, TEDx's "ideas worth spreading" through the unique lived experiences, expertise, and storytelling of our amazing speakers remain as exciting to me as ever and I appreciate being part of this effort.

I've spent the last 20-plus years building my storytelling skills, starting when I was just a kid (I have proof!). One of the aspects of life that I most appreciate is listening to stories from people all around the globe whom I have encountered. I'm so excited to be part of the #TEDxAM team and to collaborate with incredible speakers. At the opening of her "The power of vulnerability" TED Talk, Brene Brown says, "...maybe stories are just data with a soul," and that phrase has stayed with me since. I'm confident the stories shared by the #TEDxAM speakers will have a lasting and powerful impact on many!

I’ve attended TEDx events for many years, and I am honored and very excited to join TEDxAmoskeagMillyard’s organizer team. From childhood on, I’ve been curiously interested in people’s stories. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, I gleaned a knowing that each story, each experience, was an important part of that person’s very being. As a result, a natural skill evolved that brought me closer to discovering the humanitarian in me. Active listening became instinctive. My captivation with people’s stories – especially those whose voices are marginalized, underrepresented, or silenced, burn a fire in me.

    Digital Lead

Sharing and valuing our unique human experiences—and exploring how technology can amplify and strengthen them—feels more important than ever in a world increasingly saturated with artificial, inauthentic, and homogenized content. With that, I’m thrilled to join TEDx in leading and supporting digital initiatives. TEDx Talks have long inspired me, especially those that highlight resilience, growth, humor, and creativity in the face of adversity.

    Experiential Lead

I've always loved storytelling, whether listening or telling them myself, and seeing my first TED Talk in high school was finding a new form of storytelling and a new love. Now, being a part of TEDxAmoskeagMillyard is an exciting journey, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. A TED Talk that has stuck with me is Vikram Patel's "Mental Health for All By Involving All" and his notion of 'dare to care.' Everyone has a story, and each one is important.

I got involved with TEDx Amoskeag in 2023 as the event was brought back post pandemic.  As an informal educator, I love opportunities for individuals to share ideas, challenge themselves and think outside the box and TEDx Amoskeag provides that for our community. One of my favorite TEDx talks is "Bootstraps are Bullsh*t" by Loretta Brady.  It speaks to the stories of many growing up in this area who are faced with the burden of societal myths and champions the power of community.

    Entertainment Lead

TED Talks have been an inspiration for me, serving as a valuable resource both personally and professionally. Over the years, I have viewed countless TED Talks, incorporating their insights into training and educational sessions. Two talks stand out for their profound impact: Simon Sinek's "Know your why" and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's "The danger of a single story." I've been part of the TEDxAmoskeagMillyard organizing team for a decade – a source of immense satisfaction and fulfillment, as a speaker coach and overseeing entertainment, logistics, and volunteers. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to contribute to a platform that empowers voices and fosters meaningful dialogue.
