His son’s story was told in the Emmy award-nominated documentary, “Including Samuel,” the first of many acclaimed documentaries focused on disability-related topics. Sy Montgomery
Thursday, March 31, 2022 @ 7:30pm
Sy introduced the #TEDxAM13 audience to several of her best friends – Athena, an octopus, Alex, an African Gray parrot , and Mittens, an electric eel, to name a few. In doing so, she opened our eyes to the amazing diversity and beauty of the animal kingdom, making a compelling case that animals think and feel much as we do. As a naturalist and author of 32 books for adults and children for which she has won many honors, she shared her vision that we are all deeply connected to the rest of animate creation. In the years since, she has expanded on that theme to share with us what we can learn from her friends about “how to be a good creature”.
